history lesson!

Am reading a book on Perkin Warbeck, who pretended he was the youngest of the "princes in the tower" and not surprisingly came to a bad end. So far there have been many detailed descriptions of 15th-century scientific attitudes and fashion, and precious few details of how exactly he pulled it off. I'm only near the beginning, though, so perhaps it will pick up.

Apparently whites' racism towards blacks started because they expected the black to wash off with baptism water. Because devils were black, you see. Also there were quiffs as far back as the 1490s.
